S. Jaishankar to Succeed Nirupama Rao as US Ambassador

image After 40 years in Indian diplomatic service, Nirupama rao, Ambassador to the US, bid farewell. On her last day at the Embassry Rao said in the recent years Indian and US had witnessed a remarkable progress in their bilateral relationship. S. Jaishankar IFS will be succeed Rao as US Ambassador. He has served as India’s Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China since 2009. In 2012, he became the first Indian ambassador in ten years to visit Tibet. Jaishankar played a key role in negotiating the US-India civil nuclear agreement              

Nirupama Rao was the first Indian women Ambassador to China and has served as the Foreign secretary. A Keralite by origin, she got married to Sudhakar Rao, former Chief Secretary of Karnataka.
