All Applicants for Indian Visa, Passport Need Appointment for Biometric Data Collection from October 1

image As part of the Indian Visa and Foreigners Registration and Tracking (IVFRT), India is introducing biometric data collection for Indian Visas globally. It will be mandatory from October 15. Indian Consulate in Sydney said in a press release that they will start collecting biometric data from October 15. Hence, submission of all applications including visas, passport, OCIs and miscellaneous consular services from October 1 will require an appointment. You can get the appointment online at together with the online application process. Applications from walk-in applicants will not be accepted from October 1. Biometric data collection will include fingerprint data and facial imagery. As a result, all visa applicants will need to be physically present at a visa application centre, by appointment, for submission of visa application and biometric data enrollment. Diplomatic personnel travelling on official purposes are exempt from applying at a visa application centre and may lodge their applications directly at the High Commission of India in Canberra or Consulate General of India in Sydney, Melbourne or Perth, as the case may be.
